Continental nun's pocket reliquary, late 18th/ early 19th c., housing (twenty-four) first-class relics, with twelve on each side, many of early Roman martyrs or "Catacomb Saints," identified relics include Saints Fabian, Tiburtius, Donatus, Munditia, Cosmas, Tigrinus, Caesarius, Victoria, probable candidates identified by the consignor include Saints Vincent of Saragossa, Banignus of Dijon, Valentine, Clement, and Faustina, all encased in a carved wood frame with glazed roundels, affixed to damask-upholstered backing with lip cord trim, with later colorless acrylic back cover, stable splits to wood frame, overall: approx 3 1/8"h, 2.25"w, 19.4 grams (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: from the extensive collection of a long-time contributor of relics, Catholic church goods, and liturgical antiques NOTE: ALL JEWELRY & COIN LOTS REALIZING OVER $1,000 MUST BE PAID BY BANK WIRE
