Japanese black lacquer ko tansu chest, fitted with nine drawers of varied sized, each decorated with raised taka maki-e red lacquer insect motifs, foliates, and branches of peaches, small paneled cabinet door with parcel-gilt bird among blossoms, revealing three additional drawers, ornamented throughout with etched copper mounts, lacking one handle at side, approx 14"h, 12"w, 6"d, 6lbs Provenance: The lifetime collection of Lynn Roth Jordan (Louisiana, Texas, 1943-2021). As an active member of the Austin Antiques Club for many years, Lynn was deeply embedded in the antiques community here in Austin. Her New Orleans upbringing in a family of collectors (many of the pieces come from her mother's estate), combined with her frequent trips to England, gave her a unique understanding of provenance, quality, and historical significance.
