(lot of 2) English porcelain shell-shaped dishes, attributed to the Coalport Porcelain Factory, early 19th c., known as the "Animal Service" or "Zoological Service," each painted with a monkey in a naturalistic landscape, gilt-decorated border with flowers and palmettes on the cobalt blue ground, (one) inscribed in iron-red "The Long-armed ape," (one) inscribed "the Oran-Outang or Wild Man of the Woods," intact with stable hairlines, crazing and staining, (one) with chip to underside of handle, approx 2"h, 8.25"l, 8"w; 2lbs total Provenance: The estate and interior design collection of Gay Ratliff (Martha Gay Kokernot Ratliff, Austin, Texas, 1942-2023)
