(lot of 2) Southwest silver (content unknown) bolo ties, silver tips, braided black leather cord, including: (1) Valentino and Matilda Banteah (Zuni, 20th c.), tufa-cast silver plaque, cobblestone inlay rain cloud, ornament stamped VMB, bolo ornament only: approx 2.5"h, 1.75"w, (1) apparently unmarked, attributed by consignor to Roger Mathews (Wichita, Kansas, 20th c.), bolo ornament only: approx 1 7/8"h, 1.75"w; 94.6 grams total (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
