(John Horsburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland, 1835-1924), dated 1890, three-quarter-length, in a black dress, wearing a flower brooch and finger rings, holding a folding fan, a landscape with an aqueduct beyond, paper label verso inscribed in a later hand "Mrs. Jessie MacArthur-Moir, nee Forrester Baird, married James MacArthur-Moir 1867, 6 children including John, born 1872 ('Jack' father of the line)," paint loss, craquelure, dirt accretion, sight: approx 49.5"h, 39.5"w, overall: 53.5"h, 43.5"w, 14.5lbs
