Lot description
U.S. Springfield Model 1855 Percussion Rifle/Musket, mfg. 1859, .58 caliber, 40" round barrel, three barrel bands with "U" marks, tulip head ram rod, fixed front sight, brass cap at front of stock below barrel, adjustable rear sight, the barrel tang marked "53," the lockplate marked with eagle on the door of the Maynard tape primer system compartment, the lock plate further marked "U.S. Springfield and 1859," two sling swivels, the left side of the walnut stock with likely inspection oval above trigger but no lettering visible, steel butt plate marked "U.S." at upper tang, wood with expected scratches and dents, metal is silver tone, action is good, bore is brown with surface rust ANTIQUE
