(lot of 9) WWII Photographs, 8" x 10"; (1) taken on November 17,1941 of U.S. Secretary of State Cordell Hull, to his right and left Japanese Ambassadors Admiral Kichisaburo Nomura and Saburo Kurusu, to meet with U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt regarding negotiations between the U.S. and Japan, two weeks later, as the Japanese ambassadors were waiting an appointment to see Secretary Hull, Pearl Harbor was attacked, photographers notes on the verso; (2) photographs of crowds in front of the White House on December 7, 1941; (1) "night scene" at the White House, December 7, 1941; (1) a photograph of the declaration of war between the U.S. and Japan, signed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the U.S. Vice President and noted "Approved, December 8th-1941, 4.10pm, E.S.T." and the signature of President Roosevelt; (1) a photo of President Roosevelt signing the Joint Resolution (1) "President leaving congress after declaring war with Japan"; (1) showing Navy Secretary Knox and Chief of Stag General Marshall leaving the White House; (1) a make shift hospital room at Pearl Harbor, *Provenance: Photos from the personal collection and taken by Wesley Byron Howland (New York,1907-1958), a photographer employed by Harris & Ewing News Service and the Washington Times-Herald, Washington D.C. until his 1940 enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps.
