Lot description
U.S. Infantry Officer Sword, 1821-1850, the 26" blade with a 16.5" fuller at each side, the ricasso marked with arched foliate engraving, the guard with a seated Indian Princess to a likely palmetto tree, to her right are 17 stars above the American eagle with wings unfurled, head to right and the Federal shield at its breast, at left of the guard is an eagle head, the wire wrapped handle with pearl overlay grips, an Indian Head pommel, housed in a brass and steel scabbard, overall for shipping: approx 33.5"l, 1.5lbs Reference: American Swords, Flayderman, pg. 126, 59a Start Price: $500.00
