Pre-Columbian pottery pedestal plate (frutera), Republic of Panama, 600AD-1200AD, slip decorated in red and black, shallow bowl and pedestal with zoomorphic and geometric designs, intact with restoration, likely repainted, approx 8.5"h, 9.75"diam, 3.25lbs Provenance: From the collection of Glen E. Murphy (American, 1922-2010), who served as Business Education Consultant to Panama and Chief Education Advisor with the American Embassy in the Dominican Republic. From 1968 until 1981, Dr. Murphy served as the Dean, CEO, and President of the Panama Canal Zone Community College. Provenance: From the personal collection of Ruth Korn Josephs (1927-2023), founder of Pilar Fashions and Folk Art in Corpus Christi, Texas, representing her 50 year love affair with art.
