Chinese carved sage figure, depicting a bearded man with hands behind back, on stepped wood base, last two images showing photographs of item in consigner's home circa 1960s (photographs do not accompany lot), overall: approx 9.5"h, 2.75"w, 2"d, 1.2lbs total Provenance: Heirs of the estate of Victor E. Lednicky (1888-1970), a resident of the Philippines, c.1914, Chief of the Division of Mines and Mining of the Bureau of Science, later President of Lepanto Consolidated Mining Co., a copper, gold and silver mine. Lednicky was General MacArthur's civilian liaison for Manila during WWII. He was a Japanese POW in the Santo Thomas Internment Camp, Manila, 1943.
