Chinese carved sage figure, depicting a bearded man holding prayer beads in left hand, right hand behind back, on molded wood base, last two images showing photographs of item in consigner's home circa 1960s (photographs do not accompany lot), overall: approx 11"h, 3.5"w, 3"d, 1.5lbs total *Provenance: Heirs of the estate of Victor E. Lednicky (1888-1970), a resident of the Philippines, c.1914, Chief of the Division of Mines and Mining of the Bureau of Science, later President of Lepanto Consolidated Mining Co., a copper, gold and silver mine. Lednicky was General MacArthur's civilian liaison for Manila during WWII. He was a Japanese POW in the Santo Thomas Internment Camp, Manila, 1943.
