Framed Sam Houston (1793-1863) signed document as President of the Republic of Texas, hand written at Washington on the Brazos on February 16, 1844, directing the Republic of Texas treasurer, Asa Brigham (1788-1844), to pay $13.25 our of the Executive Contingent fund, the document is in Houston's hand and signed at lower right, further noted on the verso: "Gen'l Houston, 21, order, Executive Contingent Fund, Terry & Brothers (these names not clear), February 26, 1844", document approx 6.5"h, 9.25"w, frame approx. 19.75'h, 17.75"w, total: 5.25lbs *Provenance: Estate on of Joseph G.
