Experimental designer "Knotted Chair," designed by Marcel Wanders (Dutch, b.1936) for Cappellini, suspended macrame structure comprised of epoxy-coated aramid cord and carbon fibers, having knotted crest, over curved seat, rising on splayed feet, apparently unmarked, approx 29"h, 21.5"w, 24"d, seat height: approx 11.5"h Note: The "Knotted Chair" was originally designed for "Dry Tech I (1996)," a collaboration between Droog Design and Delft University of Technology's Aerospace Engineering team. This iconic chair is now a sought-after collector's piece, housed in permanent art collections around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Combining technologically innovative materials with traditional craftsmanship, the "Knotted Chair" pushes the boundaries of contemporary design.
