French Transitional style inlaid commode,19th c., after a model by Jean-Georges Schlichtig (French, 1725-1782), originally designed for the apartment of Marie Antoinette (French, 1755-1793) at the Palace of Versailles, having canted marble top, above breakfront case fitted with three short drawers, and two long drawers, marquetry rinceau frieze, above gallant figural scenes, centering a lavish architectural courtyard with checkerboard flooring, canted corners with inlaid mother-of-pearl royal monogram/ cipher for Marie Antoinette, rising on cabriole legs, ending on sabots, approx 37"h, 54"w, 24"d
