Spanish Colonial coin, 8 reales, Mexico City, Philip IV era, mid 17th c., assayer D, the obverse having an off center shield with castles and lions and the denomination “8” to the right, the reverse with the Jerusalem cross having lobed ends and visible partial lettering "MEX" at upper right, not magnetic, estimated 93% pure silver content, irregular diameter at places approx. 38mm, weight approx. 26.7 grams
