Framed oil on canvas painting, Texas Hill Country Fall, signed lower right Alexa Smith (active: San Antonio, Texas, 1869-1943), several small paint flakes to central upper quadrant, sight: approx 13.5"h, 15.5"w, overall: approx 17.5"h, 29.5"w, 2.5lbs Biography Note: Alexa Smith, originally from Millersburg, Kentucky, moved to Texas at an early age. She studied at Baylor and, in 1903, settled in San Antonio. She took painting lessons from Jose Arpa, Dawson Dawson-Watson, Rolla Taylor, and more. She was a member of the Southern States Art League and the San Antonio Artists Guild. Her works were exhibited extensively in Texas (source: internet)
