(lot of 10) Compass Collection: (1) U.S. Army WWII era wrist worn compass, mfg. by Taylor Instruments, Rochester, New York, mfg. 1942-1945. brown Bakelite, liquid filled, primarily used by U.S. paratroops, brown leather band with damage, appears to operate correctly, case approx. 2.25" diameter; (1) Cased dry card compass by F. Barker & Son, London, early 20th .c. brass hinged cover and lanyard ring, triangular trade mark at underside, approx. 1.75" diameter; (1) German dry card, early 20th c., mirror back case set in bone with three magnifying lens, approx. 1.5/8" diam x 3.25"l; (1) Brass cased surveyors transit compass, the brass card is quite detailed, immovable plastic top indicating reproduction, mounting bracket and screw, compass approx. 2.7/8" diam., largest measurement including mounts approx. 3.25" x 3.75"; (1) Waltham Type C, WWII military issue, the rear hinged lid stamped "U.S.", lacks front lid, white dry card, lanyard loop, compass approx. 1.75" diameter; (1) French or Belgian early 20th c. pocket compass, dry card, brass case with needle lock lever, large arrow to north, west is indicated by 'O', lanyard ring, approx. 2" diam; (1) Brass case pocket compass with needle lock lever, large arrow on dry card points N, marked made in France, lanyard ring has been removed, approx. 1.7/8" diam.; (1) Brass case with needle locking lever, dry card is metal and shows some surface rust, no maker marks, approx. 2" diam; (1) Vintage small "Johnny Walker" compass, lack original pin for affixing to clothing, approx. 1.25" diam; (1) Vintage small dry card compass with fold out loupe, when approx. 3"l, closed approx. 2.25"l, for shipping total of all approx. 1.60lbs Provenance: Dallas, Texas: When the madness of collecting collides with connoisseurship
