Lot description
German Hunting Sword also known as a Hirschfanger or Deer Catcher, first half19th century, Solingen, having a 22.25" dagger point blade, the last 6" of the false edge sharpened, the blade fullers profusely embellished with 15 relief deer, boar, hunters and forest trees on each side (see close up photo), the spine above the ricasso having an arrow within parallel lines pointed toward the blade tip, a brass clam shell guard with an antlered deer in relief, the brass knuckle guard ends in a stylized lions head, the handle is a single piece of bone dyed green, the pommel is a lions head, sword overall approx. 28"l, 1.25lbs
