Lot description

U.S. Model 1861 Percussion Rifle-Musket, .58 caliber, mfg. 1863 by Norwich Arms Company, Norwich, Ct., 40" round barrel, blade front sight, ramrod, brass nose cap, three barrel bands, sling loop at center barrel band, lacks rear sight, the lockplate marked forward of the hammer: "U.S." over "Norwich" and only part of eagle visible, also marked behind the hammer "1863", no visible counterpane markings, trigger guard with sling loop, installed cloth sling, hardwood stock, steel buttplate, wood with expected dents and scratches, repair and break on both sides of barrel tang with some wood loss, metal is silver tone with cleaned rust and pitting, action is good with correct response from trigger and hammer, ramrod sets approx. .75" beyond muzzle, bore with surface rust, overall approx. 56"l, 8.25lbs, NSN, *ANTIQUE*
