Large Victorian slate presentation mantel clock, late 19th c., drumhead case with malachite inlay and incised scrollwork, centering gilt-metal dial with open escapement, marked Wherly & Sheraton, Newcastle on Tyne, Arabic hour markers, time-and-strike movement marked HP & Cie., above engraved silver-tone metal dedication plaque inscribed "Presented to Sergeant Richard Nicholas by the Officers and Constables of the Newcastle on Tyne Constabulary, as an act of respect on his appointment as Superintendent of the Penzance Borough Police, Jany 30, 1886," on platform base and block feet, accompanied by keys and pendulum, time movement observed operating, glue repair to top right side of case, approx 14.25"h, 22"w, 7"d, 59lbs
