Continental liturgical vestment humeral veil, 18th/ 19th c., yellow ground fabric woven with gold metallic thread, with padded goldwork embroidery executed in gold and silver metal threads, depicting a pelican mother wounding her breast to feed her young, representing the Catholic symbol of the "Pelican in Her Piety," framed by quatrefoil and padded scrollwork, applique trim and fringe, red cotton backing fabric, equipped with gilt-metal chain and hook at the shoulders, approx 105.5"l, 20.5"w, 2lbs PLEASE NOTE: All of the textiles in this auction would likely benefit from a professional cleaning. Though we do not currently observe any major tears or losses, most are likely to have some staining, missing trim, and evidence of wear.
