Chinese style hardwood and woven rattan storage chest, attributed to Maitland-Smith, in a black lacquer finish with herringbone rattan paneling, mounted with embossed metal strapping, hinged lid with parcel-gilt scene of court ladies in a garden, revealing open storage interior, the front with additional figural scenes, including a flute-playing boy riding an ox, some overall wear, approx 9.5"h, 20.5"w, 13"d, 6.75lbs Provenance: The collection of Kathryn V. Alexander, an antiques dealer and designer with over 20 years of experience operating shops in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Middleburg, Virginia. Kathryn retired in 2020 and now lives in Georgetown, Texas
