Lot description

English Georgian period oak slant-front box on stand, late 18th/ early 19th c., having hinged door with forged iron straps, revealing interior gallery fitted with four drawers and central arched cavity, above open storage, rising on squared supports, lacking central stretcher, approx 39.5"h, 29"w, 17"d, floor to bottom of apron (clearance): approx 23.5"h Provenance: The lifetime collection of Lynn Roth Jordan (Louisiana, Texas, 1943-2021). As an active member of the Austin Antiques Club for many years, Lynn was deeply embedded in the antiques community here in Austin. Her New Orleans upbringing in a family of collectors (many of the pieces come from her mother's estate), combined with her frequent trips to England, gave her a unique understanding of provenance, quality, and historical significance. The estate features an extensive array of English furniture alongside antique decorative objects, the kind of exceptional pieces that only reveal themselves to collectors who know where to look and what to seek.
