English Regency Chinoiserie black-lacquered papier-mache table box, early 19th c., hinged lid with parcel-gilt depiction of robed scholars gathering under tree branches, and architectural scenes with pagodas, enclosing divided interior, decorated on all sides with floral spray, lacking some interior dividers, separation at back edge of lid, approx 5.5"h, 14"w, 10.25"d, 4.5lbs Provenance: The lifetime collection of Lynn Roth Jordan (Louisiana, Texas, 1943-2021). As an active member of the Austin Antiques Club for many years, Lynn was deeply embedded in the antiques community here in Austin. Her New Orleans upbringing in a family of collectors (many of the pieces come from her mother's estate), combined with her frequent trips to England, gave her a unique understanding of provenance, quality, and historical significance.
