French Provincial Morbier oak longcase clock, 19th c., having arched cornice, above glazed dial viewing door with pie crust trim, brass repousse frame encasing white enameled porcelain dial, marked Dumont Fils a Belley, with Roman numeral hour markers, unmarked time-and-strike movement, rising on tapering body and stepped foot, accompanied by pendulum, key, and (two) weights, chime observed operating, likely in need of adjustment to keep good time, small hole in back panel of dial case, approx 88.5"h, 18.75"w, 11.5"d Provenance: The lifetime collection of Lynn Roth Jordan (Louisiana, Texas, 1943-2021). As an active member of the Austin Antiques Club for many years, Lynn was deeply embedded in the antiques community here in Austin. Her New Orleans upbringing in a family of collectors (many of the pieces come from her mother's estate), combined with her frequent trips to England, gave her a unique understanding of provenance, quality, and historical significance.
