(lot of 27) French library shelf books, periodicals, WWI history, literature, and dictionaries, most with gilt-embossed red leather binding, many with marbleized covers and raised spine bands, highlights include: (5) "Le Journal de La Jeunesse (The Journal of the Youth)," published by Librarie Hachette and Company, Paris, 1892-1894; (3) large-format bound periodicals, "L'Illustration (The Illustration)," founded by Edouard Charton and Adolphe Joanne, comprising 1917, 1918, and 1919, featuring numerous photographs and color illustrations of the Western front during World War I; (3) by Marie Joseph Louis Adolphe Thiers, comprising (two) "Histoire de la Revolution Francaise (History of the French Revolution)," published by Furne, Jouvet and Company, Paris, 1866, volumes I-II, (one) "Histoire du Consulat (History of the Consulate)," published by Lheureaux and Company, Paris, 1865; largest: approx 16"h, 12"w, 1.75"d, 102lbs total PLEASE NOTE: All of the antique library shelf books in this auction are inherently fragile.
