American Chippendale mahogany highback corner chair, in the manner of the Goddard and Townsend Families, likely Newport, Rhode Island, 18th c., having scrolled top rail, above vasiform splats, padded slip seat in later striped fabric upholstery, front cabriole leg headed by acanthus, tapering back legs, on open-talon ball and claw feet, small area of missing trim to central front leg, approx 44.5"h, 29"w, 25.5"d, seat height: approx 19"h Provenance: The Tarrytown, Austin, Texas estate of Janice Holliman Stanfield
