(pair) English porcelain square cabinet places, decorated in the manner of Thomas Baxter (English, 1782-1821), early 19th c., possibly Barr, Flight and Barr, Worcester,each having central shield crest featuring the coat of arms of the Bruce Family adjoining the coat of arms of the Spicer family in marriage, with scrolled gilt foliates on yellow ground, Greek key trim framing Neoclassical style white border with musical angels and swans, unmarked, one intact with glue repair to one corner, one with typical small chips to rim, approx 8.5"l, 8.5"w, 3.5lbs total Note: A cup and saucer in the same pattern can be found in the Metropolitan Museum's ceramic collection and features on Thomas Baxter's Wikipedia page Provenance: The Tarrytown, Austin, Texas estate of Janice Holliman Stanfield
