Print and inscription housed in a single frame, comprising: (one) lithograph on paper, "Carlo IX (Portrait of King Charles IX)," after the painting by Francois Clouet (French, c.1515-1572), originally attributed to Hans Holbein the Younger (Swiss/ German, c.1497-1543), designed by Gaetano Tubino (Italian, 1829-1896), printed by Salucci, sight: approx 8.25"h, 6"w; (one) ink inscription on laid paper, reading "par desir de Mr. Sten Sieur de Ley on bounit, Charles de Valois escrit ce 13PRI May 1559 ("for the sake of Mr. Sten, Lord of Laye, Charles de Valois wrote this May 13, 1559)," sight: approx 6.25"h, 5"w; the group with overall toning and foxing commensurate with age, overall: approx 12"h, 15.5"w, 2lbs
