French religious figure, Saint James (S. Jacobus), 19th c., gesso over wood, carved in the round, parcel-gilt and cream-painted, depicting the tonsured saint dressed in a cassock and a surplice trimmed with lace, a stole around his neck, holding the Eucharist and a palm frond, a fur pelt draped over his left arm, standing above a secondary figure clutching a book and serpent, intact with losses and restorations, approx 42.25"h, 14.25"w, 12.25"d, 39lbs
