Lot description
(2 pieces) Italian "La Perla" carved alabaster sculptural table lamp on marble display pedestal, incised signature U. Stiaccini (Umberto Stiaccini, 19th-20th c.), Florence, Made in Italy, early 20th c., depicting the 'Birth of Venus', having the nude figure of Venus reclined within an open scallop shell, concealing single light, hoisted on shoulder of three cherubs, standing atop naturalistic base with coral and seashells, further rising on integral socle base, accompanied by an Italian marble pedestal with carved spiral twist and reeded standard, central meander pattern, ending on octagonal base, retaining Made in Italy label, lamp observed operating, sculpture intact with glue restoration to extended foot and some typical chips to edges, small repaired chip to pedestal rim, lamp only: approx 23"h, 18"w, 13"d, pedestal: approx 39.5"h, 10.5"w, 10.5"d Provenance: the contents of a Stratford Hills mansion
