Unusual French Renaissance Revival highly-carved walnut corner cupboard, late 19th c., having pierced crest with mask-form terminals, above two open shelves, rising on French dolphins and winged grotesques, back panels with detailed scenes of various musical cherubs, over lower case fitted with single drawer, flanked by protruding lion masks, above cabinet door depicting a goddess battling a lion, opening to fixed-height shelf, flanked on both sides by draped half-figures carved in high relief, rising on scrolled satyr-mask supports, upper case with small split at corner of lower left relief panel, approx 90"h, 42"w, 26"d Provenance: Purchased from a castle in the Loire Valley Note: One of a pair to be offered in this auction
