Carved and painted Topeng Paca tapel or dance mask, signed Ida-Ayu Madri Yadnya Suary Dewi (Indonesian, 20thc.), Ida Bagus Sutarja Art Gallery, Mas-Bali, zoomorphic mask, possibly a jaguar, in a painted warm-tone gradient finish with concentric linework, adorned with a parcel-gilt and pierced buffalo hide diadem and floral motif, with geometric bezel-set mirrored glass accents, trimmed with horse hair strung with lucky coin and stone beadwork, mask only (excluding hide and hair elements): approx 9.25"h, 8.75"w, 5.5"d, 2lbs Note: Mrs. Ida-Ayu, a Buddhist priestess, is the wife of famed Balinese mask maker, ritual dancer, and Hindu priest, I.B. Sutarja (Ida Bagus Sutarja, 1934-2002).
