French Louis XV style caned commode chair, early 20th c., in an intentionally distressed parcel-gilt and cream-painted finish, accented by polychrome floral motifs, having carved shell motif crest, over caned sides, back, and seat with a painted checker design, hinged seat revealing marbleized commode seat, rising on cabriole legs ending on whorl feet, approx 40.75"h, 23"w, 23.5"d, seat height: approx 19"h Provenance: The estate and interior design collection of Gay Ratliff (Martha Gay Kokernot Ratliff, Austin, Texas, 1942-2023)
