Antique Mughal style carved hardwood window shutters, Northern India, likely teakwood, carved in the form of a mihrab niche, ornate foliated trim, paneled shutters mounted with pierced and etched cut brass overlaid on sheets of copper, constructed with hand-forged square iron nails, hung with later unassociated patinated metal ghanta bell with mayura (peacock) handle, approx 66.75"h, 31.25"w, 5"d, 113lbs Provenance: From Donald and Renate Van Stone's Austin, Texas estate. Donald Van Stone served as the Regional Vice President of the First National Bank of Chicago from 1971-1984, a time in which the bank was expanding internationally. After assignments in Germany, Kenya, and Australia, the Van Stones moved to Manila, Philippines where they began amassing an impressive collection of Chinese and Southeast Asian art and artifacts, some of which will be offered in this auction.
