Spanish santo/ altar figure, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 19th c., finely carved, gesso over wood with polychrome paint, set glass eyes, the Virgin Mary in brown velvet robes with goldwork embroidery, holding a scepter and scapular in her right hand, silvered metal crown and halo, wearing an 18kt gold (tested) and diamond brooch, the infant Jesus similarly vested, housed in a rosewood nicho/ capilla cabinet, glazed door and side panes, framed by turned columns, interior lined with flock paper, on bun feet, santo: approx 40"h, cabinet: approx 57"h, 35.25"w, 24.5"d
