Colt 1911 .38 Super Automatic Pistol, mfg. 1940, 5" barrel, fixed front and rear sights, right slide marked "Colt Super .38 Automatic" with Rampant Colt, left slide marked with Colr address and last patent date" Aug, 19. 1913", left rear slide with British broad arrow and proof markings, right front of trigger guard stamped "69", left trigger guard marked "P" and Colt's Verified Proof inspection mark", left rear Swartz thumb safety, black checkered hard rubber grips, rear safety grip, nine round detachable "Colt Super .38 Auto" magazine, this pistol is one of 1400 acquired by the British for Special Operations, WWII, finish with light scratching, rubs and estimated at 90%+, action is good, bore is bright with good rifling, serial number noted at two places: right frame and the underside of the slide beneath the safety stop, SN 35398   *REQUIRES FFL TRANSFER*     Note: For more historic information see Rock Island Auction, May 16, 2021, Lot 3438 (https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/82/3438/british-purchasing-commission-colt-38-super-pistol)
