Chinese carved and painted table screen with marble inset, depicting an ancestral portrait of a Ming Dynasty dignitary's wife, encased in a carved hardwood frame with openwork foliates and longevity motifs, over lower plaque with plum blossom tree, rising on conforming base/ stand ending on auspicious cloud supports, overall: approx 33.75"h, 19.25"w, 9"d, 23lbs Note: Matching screen with portrait of a dignitary offered in this auction. A Chinese screen with similar subject, with a provenance of Chateau d'Haroue in France, sold at Drouot Auction in March 2009
