Unframed oil on stretched canvas painting, signed lower left Herbe, dated 1832, attributed to Charles Auguste Herbe (French, 1801-1884), stabilized tears to canvas, surface abrasions, relined, overall: approx 51"h, 44.25"w, 14lbs Note: possibly exhibited in the Salon of 1835 under the title "Le Volt: Berthe de Loisy faisant faire un volt ou vœu de cire pour rendre son epoux fidele," picture number 1061, "Explication des ouvrages de peinture, sculpture, architecture, gravure et lithographie, des artistes vivans, exposes Au Musee Royal, Le 1er Mars 1835," page 105
