Lot description
Monumental Spanish carved walnut hall tree, early 20th c., having arched pediment with fanned shell, above central beveled mirror plate, flanked on both sides by fluted columnar supports, each issuing gilt metal hat/ coat hooks, lower case with inset red marble top, above ceramic tile frieze, featuring (four) tiles designed by John Moyr Smith (English, 1839-1912) for Minton Tile Works, depicting scenes from Sir Walter Scott's (1771–1832) "Waverley Novels" series, flanked by dual umbrella/ stick stands with removable drip trays, rising on platform base and bun feet, loss to right side drip tray, silver loss to mirror plate, approx 130"h, 83"w, 17"d
