(2) Republic of Texas Currency notes:(1) $20 note, serial numbered 2831 dated July 10, 1839, signed Mirabeau B. Lamar (1798-1859) as President; (1) $1 note serial numbered 2776 dared July 9, 1840, signed by the acting treasurer and J.W. Simmons, Comptroller *Note: James Wright Simmons(c. 1790-1858), brother of Cleveland Wright who died at the Alamo. Simmons was also cousin to Hamilton Bee whose family figured importantly in early Texas. Simmons became Secretary of the Treasury in 1840. Start Price: $200.00
