Anschutz-Match Model 250 Air Rifle, .177 caliber, 18" barrel, fixed front sight, side lever action, hardwood stock with cheek piece, underside accessory rail, and checkering at pistol grip, vertically adjustable hard rubber butt plate, together with (3) Anschutz micrometer aperature sights, rifle overall 45"l, 10.80lbs *Provenance: Former property of Lt. Col. Lones Wigger, U.S. Army (Montana, Colorado, 1937-2017), Olympic Gold Medalist marksman1964 and1972 and holding or co-held 29 world marksman records and won more than 100 shooting medals. Wigger was in charge of the Army's 23rd Infantry Division Sniper program in Vietnam. He is regarded as the greatest American marksman. This Anschutz was gifted by Wigger to Henry D. Evans (New York, Texas,1933-2021) Master Sergeant U.S.A.F, Retired. A 23 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served in the Air Force Rifle Marksmanship Unit, Lackland A.F.B., as a marksman and instructor. Evans earned multiple excellence in competition badges throughout his service culminating in the award of the U.S. Air Force Distinguished Rifleman badge, number 84, and was a member of the President's 100, awarded to the 100 top scoring military and civilian shooters in the President's Pistol and President's Rifle Matches. NOTE: This Anschutz air rifle comes with a notarized statement by Henry Evans' son attesting to the Lones Wigger provenance.
