
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough research to verify the authenticity and provenance of items.
• Accurately catalog consignments for auction, adhering to industry standards regarding terminology and proper catalog formatting in a timely manner.
• Assess and price merchandise in line with current secondary market trends.
• Collaborate with external experts as needed.
• Prepare detailed condition reports for consigned property prior to each auction.
• Occasionally assist with estate calls to procure, list, and pack fragile consignments.
• Support all auction aspects, including setting up items, lotting, and more. You will wear many hats!
• Participate in auctions, fulfilling various roles such as front office support, customer service, cash handling, assisting with live telephone bids, and learning Live Auction computer software.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of one year of auction cataloging experience.
• Excellent research and writing skills.
• Strong interest in auctions, antiques, and decorative arts.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Think outside the box and explore new ways to contribute to the team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Ability to work independently moving from task to task and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Photoshop skills are a BONUS but not required.
Working Conditions:
• Handling valuable and fragile objects.
• Warehouse environment in Austin, Texas.
• Ability to work well under the pressure of catalog deadlines.
• High-volume department, often working concurrently on multiple sales and deadlines.
• Adaptability to evolving workloads within deadline constraints.
Schedule:
• General hours: Monday – Thursday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Friday 8:30 am – 3:00 pm (Friday hours may vary on auction weekends).
• Must work auctions once a month in the office, telephone bidding or running internet software.
• Hours may be extended as needed to meet catalog deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Hourly wage commensurate with experience
• Benefits include dental insurance, health insurance, life insurance, paid time off, and vision insurance.
